Spare rooms often become a storage space (or dumping ground!) for items that don’t seem to fit elsewhere. Once you start putting things in there, it’s easy to carry on and before you know it you have a room full of stuff you don’t really use and or don’t remember!

Part of the reason spare rooms become storage areas is that some items are awkward to find a place for, and it’s not always straightforward to work out where they belong. It’s quicker and easier to put them out of sight in the spare room but it’s also an extremely expensive way to store your possessions, in terms of space and money. In a home that’s too full of clutter, you’re unlikely to find the right space you need for these things.
